Webinar - Data Privacy: New Regulation and Implications for Big Data Approaches

During this webinar, organised by the BigData@Heart consortium on 29 October 2018, Menno Mostert, Assistant Professor Health Law at UMC Utrecht, explained the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and data privacy in Big Data Health research, more specifically on the reserarch exemptions in the GPRD. Natacha Udo-Beauvisage, Global Data Protection Officer from Servier Monde, gave the view from the pharmaceutical industry on the new regulation and implications for Big Data Approaches. Finally, Evert-Ben van Veen, Partner and Senior Consultant at Medlaw, elaborated on a basic model for datasharing in BigData@Heart.

The presentations were followed by a Q&A with questions from the audience, where Shona Kalkman, Assistant Professor Biomedical Research Ethics from UMC Utrecht, joined the panel to give the project’s view on Governance of datasharing within BigData@Heart.
